From May 3 to 5, 2007, Equitas hosted an international human rights education evaluation symposium. Jointly organized with the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and with the support of the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA). The goal of the Symposium was for HRE practitioners to share new ideas, knowledge, skills and other practices to effectively evaluate human rights education, particularly over the longer term.

Monitoring and reporting on women’s rights in Kazakhstan

The goal of this workshop was to increase the capacity of participating organizations to more effectively monitor State compliance with national and international standards for the protection and promotion of women’s human rights and gender equality in the Republic of Kazakhstan.



Health and Human Rights: A Resource Guide for the Open Society Institute and Soros Foundations Network
June 2007

The Resource Guide provides a practical tool for working at the intersection of health and human rights. It includes fact sheets, program descriptions, jurisprudence, case studies and glossary definitions in a number of areas: HIV/AIDS; harm reduction; palliative care; sexual health; and minority health. It also contains thirteen foundational human rights documents containing health-related provisions.

The Resource Guide was developed by the Open Society Institute and Equitas.

This manual, developed for the 28th edition of the IHRTP, is a comprehensive tool for strengthening the capacity of organisations to undertake human rights education efforts aimed at building a universal culture of human rights. It focuses on building both human rights content as well as training skills of human rights educators. Available in the Facilitator and Participant versions.

Play it right is an educational toolkit developed to promote inclusion, human rights, anti-discrimination, harmonious intercultural relations, and peaceful conflict resolution among children. It is user-friendly and contains ideas for games and activities focusing on a rights-based approach to anti-discrimination.



National Human Rights Institutions at Work: Asia-Pacific Regional Workshop on Women’s Economic, Social and Cultural Rights


This manual was developed to provide national human rights institutions (NHRIs) with the opportunity to analyze and deepen their understanding of economic, social and cultural (ESC) rights issues and the consequences of women’s inequality within the international and national human rights contexts.



UN Road Map
(2nd edition)
The UN Road Map suggests effective strategies that can be used by Asian NGOs working to better promote and protect the rights of Asian migrant workers. It identifies practical approaches for use both within and outside the formal mechanisms of the UN and ILO. The UN Road Map can also serve as an educational tool in promoting awareness of migrant workers' issues.
