Introduction to Equitas Manuals

Equitas produces specialized manuals for each of its training sessions and workshops. The manuals provided on our website address a range of themes that Equitas covers in its current human rights education activities. These include:
  1. Training for Human Rights Trainers

  2. Developing Capacity for Teacher Trainers

  3. Follow-up and Evaluation

  4. Creation and Strengthening of Independent National Human Rights Institutions

  5. Promotion and Protection of Economic, Social and Cultural Rights

  6. Promotion and Protection of Minority Rights and Diversity

  7. Legal Protection of Women Migrant Workers

The methodology used in all training designed by Equitas is based on a participatory approach to learning; this is reflected in all the materials provided here.

The materials are provided in Adobe pdf format. The manuals are in English, French, Russian or Bahasa Indonesia.

It must be noted that the actual training materials represent only one segment of the learning process, which in reality begins well before the actual face-to-face training session, with the application process and the pre-training assignment and continues well after the session in the form of follow up initiatives. Equitas would be pleased to share with you upon request these additional materials (e.g., sample application forms, pre-training assignments, evaluation questionnaires, follow-up evaluation questionnaires).

Although the manuals are designed for specific target groups the materials can be easily adapted for different target groups and for different training needs. Each manual is a blueprint for a complete training event ranging from three days to three weeks in the case of the IHRTP. Particular features of the training manuals include:

1. An Introduction outlining the overall goal and objectives of the training, the training methodology, as well as a description of the participant group for whom the session was designed

2. A detailed Schedule, outlining the different sections (i.e., modules, sessions) and providing a breakdown of the activities by day with start and end times for each activity and/or a detailed Table of Contents, in some cases hyperlinked to the text
3. Complete activity descriptions, outlining objectives, grouping of participants, step-by-step procedures for facilitators and participants, Worksheets as well as support materials in the form of Reference sheets.
